About ZIC Resources

The Za-geh-do-win Information Clearinghouse researches, collects, catalogues, and distributes resources that provide information and services on health, healing and family violence.

Our resources come from a variety of sources including libraries, clearinghouses from Indigenous and non-Indigenous centres, communities, and organizations.

Our Logo

Za-geh-do-win is a phrase in the Ojibway language meaning “caring for one another,” illustrated in our logo created by Leland Bell

The colour blue symbolized the spirit of the family. The parents kneel to embrace the children as the family looks to one another for love and support. The large white circle represents Grandfather Sun and the blue circle represents Grandmother Moon, symbolizing the love and support of the extended family that surrounds them. The seven birds represent the Creator and show that no matter what happens, you are never alone, while portraying the faith through which the family circle has been healed. The healing was brought on by bringing strength back into the family, allowing it to grow, regain kindness, humility, strength and love.

Governance

Za-geh-do-win Information Clearinghouse program is housed at Manotsaywin Nanotoojig Inc.

The corporation is governed by its twenty-one First Nation member communities. Twelve elected board of directors serve the members representing four different areas; Manitoulin, Highway 69, North Shore and Northern regions. Elections take place annually at the Annual General Meeting. This project has received financial support from the Government of Ontario, Indigenous Healing and Wellness Strategy.

Service Area

We provide our services to the entire province of Ontario.

All our services are free of charge for Ontario organizations and individuals.

Assist in the healing and wellness of communities. Focus on the Indigenous communities and organizations both urban and rural in Ontario.

Mission Statement

Manotsaywin Nanotoojig Inc. provides Indigenous resources on health, healing, and family violence to the province of Ontario.
